TEACHERS' BIOGRAPHY

 

FRANCESCA SCAINI, (Singing) She graduated from the B. Marcello Conservatory with the highest grades. As the best student she received the silver medal of the President of the Republic. She specialized at the Accademia della Voce in Turin, took part in masterclasses with V.Zeani, F.Corelli, A.Krauss, R.Kabaiwanska; she also attends the Renata Scotto Opera Academy. In 1999 she was chosen by the famous mezzo-soprano Brigitte Fasbaender as Desdemona in Verdi's Othello staging. In 2000 she played the role of Desdemona in Montepellier, directed by Del Monaco. In 2001 she won the Maria Callas Award for the Sopranos category, new voices for Verdi. For 5 years she was the First Woman of the Staatsoper of Hannover, debuting in the roles of Aida, Donna Anna, Fiordiligi, Amelia (Ballo in Maschera), Leonora (Trovatore), Jenufa, Adriana Lecouvreur, Tosca. Other roles in her repertoire: Anna Bolena, Elisabetta del Don Carlo, Butterfly, the Gioconda Elvira (Ernani). She has an intense concert activity. She has performed in major European and non-European theaters and concert halls, including the Paris Opera, La Fenice in Venice, Mexico City at the Bellas Artes Theater and with the Mexican Philharmonic Orchestra. She has always been active in the field of contemporary music too: we remember: for the Teatro La Fenice in the Sonopolis cycle as the protagonist of the opera jO pal by Hans Jochenn Hespos. She was invited to give lectures at the Faculty of Singing at the University of Mexico City and she is a passionate teacher who regularly holds singing and scenic art masterclasses.

Course objectives: The masterclass wants to deepen the relationship between the word and the song, also highlighting the reciprocal influences and executive problems, in relation to the specific characteristics of a vocal piece constituted by an air with recitative of various historical periods chosen by the participants. In the masterclass the need to make the speech intelligible and expressive in relation to the different vocal expression techniques will be highlighted, deepening the recitative, the agility, and the bound song. The relationships between the word and the dynamic, agogic and expressive signs used in musical language will be studied in depth, trying to relate them to the meaning of the text, even from a dramatic point of view. The basic technique of singing will also be addressed (suggestions for understanding the body as a musical instrument).

 

STEFANIA REDAELLI, (Piano) Graduated with top marks at the Milan Conservatory under the guidance of Ernesto Esposito, she also studied with Bruno Canino, Murray Perahia, Paolo Borciani (Italian Quartet), Dario De Rosa and Norbert Brainin (Quartetto Amadeus). Assistant to the courses of Salvatore Accardo, Rocco Filippini, Franco Gulli, Yo-Yo Ma, Victor Tretiakov, Lucas Hagen, Asier Polo and Boris Belkin (Chigiana academy, Stauffer Cremona foundation, Garda Lake Music Festival ...). Professor of chamber music at the Conservatory of Vicenza and professor of piano at the Academy of High Specialization in Sacile. She has recorded for Warner, Warner-Fonit Cetra, Dynamic, Brilliant, Stradivarius, Ricordi and Bottega Discantica, in this last cd also as director. As a soloist she has performed with the orchestras of the Milan RAI, Pomeriggi Musicali and the Angelicum of Milan, with the San Remo Symphony Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra of Padua. He has played with internationally renowned musicians including Salvatore Accardo, Mario Brunello, Massimo Quarta, Sergej Krilov, Lucas Hagen, Cecilia Bartoli, Bruno Giuranna, Domenico Nordio, Marco Rizzi, Fabrizio Meloni, Danilo Stagni, Edoardo Zosi, Antony Pay, Rocco Filippini, Alain Meunier, Victor Tretiakov, Sonig Tchakerian, in prestigious theaters and associations such as the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Schauspielhaus in Berlin, the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, the Regio in Parma, the Ponchielli in Cremona, the Bibiena in Mantua, The Stresa Festival, the Unione Musicale of Turin, the Milan Musical Evenings, the Venice Biennale, the MITO Festival, the Radio3 Concerts (Concerts at the Quirinale, Radio3 Suite), at the IUC in Rome, the Chigiana Academy in Siena, Wigmore Hall of London, Boston Symphony Hall, the Glinka Museum in Moscow, Cemat Resit in Istanbul, the University of Singapore ..... She has been playing piano duo with Maria Grazia Bellocchio since 1980.

Course objectives: Students from middle and advanced level conservatories are invited, already formed chamber groups, graduates or graduates who aim to deepen their knowledge and possibly prepare themselves to continue their post-diploma studies. Students will be able to deepen the study of solo and chamber compositions, enrich their repertoire, confront themselves with the problems of interpretation and safeguarding the style of musical epochs, relying on the search for appropriate technical means to express themselves at best. The course aims to deepen the technical and expressive knowledge of the instrument.

 

ALESSANDRO COMMELLATO, (Piano, Fortepiano) A pupil of Carlo Vidusso, Piernarciso Masi, Sergo Fiorentino and Evgeny Malinin, Alessandro Commellato studied at the Conservatory in Milan and won piano competitions in Dortmund(Schubert), Cidad de Oporto, Roma(Rendano), Stresa. He collaborated for many years with celebrated soprano, Gina Cigna. He has performed as soloist with Teatro alla Scala of Milan, Teatro la Fenice of Venice, Saint Petersbourg Academy, Prague Philarmonic, Radio Zagreb Orchestra, Odessa Symphonic, Moldavian National Orchestra, Krasnodar Premiere, Omsk Philarmonic, Bacau Symphony, Bratislava Solamente Naturali, Orchestra Verdi Milano, Sinfonica Toscanini, and toured in the USA, Japan, Australia. He has premiered contemporary works in Salzburg Mozarteum, Madrid Auditorium Nacional, Melbourne, New York Americas Society, Milano Musica nel nostro tempo, Como Autunno Musicale, Biennale di Venezia. Commellato performed in the world premiere of “Cherì”(R.Petit) at the Teatro alla Scala; in “Autour de Chopin” at National Theatre in Warsaw, in Adriano Guarnieri's “Medea” at Teatro La Fenice in Venice. He is regularly invited in Festivals of Lausanne, Lugano, Verbier, Innsbruck, Lockenhaus, Bremen, Bratislava, Aix en provence, Mulhouse, Milano Villa Reale, Florence Accademia del Fortepiano, Urbino Festival, Palermo Amici della Musica, Barga. His projects on historical pianos focus on Beethoven, Hummel, Ries, Chopin, Thalberg, Rossini. As a chamber player he performs with Atalanta Fugiens, Le Musiche Berlin, Solamente Naturali and many others. In Cremona he was assistant of Bruno Giuranna and Salvatore Accardo. He recorded Gioacchino Rossini “Pechèe de vieillesse” for Amadeus Paragon, J.N.Hummel concertos and septets, Beethoven complete variations, Ferdinand Ries cello sonatas with Gaetano Nasillo, for Brilliant Classic. Next releases will be Thalberg “L'Art du Chant appliquè au piano” and Stanchinsky piano music for Piano Classics. Commellato is piano professor at “Guido Cantelli” Conservatory in Novara.

Course objectives: The masterclass is aimed at students of middle and advanced level conservatories, graduates who aim to deepen their knowledge. Students will be able to deepen the study of solo and chamber compositions, enrich their repertoire, confront themselves with the problems of interpretation and safeguarding the style of musical epochs, relying on the search for appropriate technical means to express themselves at best. The course aims to deepen the piano repertoire and the technical-expressive analysis of the interpretation will in particular deal with the sound technique also in relation to the correct use of the means used for its production, also with the use of instruments of era. Piano repertoire will be performed on modern and historical instruments, focusing on style, philological approach and specific technical skills. Piano concertos will be performed in chamber version, with the strings of the Meeting Orchestra. Students will have the opportunity to play in public concerts during and after the masterclass. The lessons will take place on a modern Steinway grand, 1825 J. Broadwood fortepiano and on a romantic Pleyel of 1849.

 

LUCA BRAGA, (Violin) He graduated from the G. Verdi Conservatory in Milan. He specialized with F.Cusano and later with Z.Gilels, A.Brussilowski, M.Jokanovich attending courses, seminars or masterclasses and always getting scholarships and merit. For chamber music he improved with M. Sirbu for the sonatist repertoire and with F. Rossi for the string quartet, always awarded with scholarships or awards of merit. He has won numerous prizes and awards in national and international competitions for chamber formations. He currently holds the chair of chamber music at the G. Verdi Conservatory of Milan. He has been a guest of prestigious concert associations as a soloist or in chamber ensembles in Italy, Austria, Switzerland, France, Spain, Great Britain, Czech Republic, Germany, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, Finland, Africa, South America, China and Japan. In duo with Lucia Pittau she recorded the complete work of G. Martucci and G.Sgambati for violin and piano (ed. Tactus), and many other recordings or radio recordings. He has worked with important Italian orchestras. Since 2000 he has been a member of the Mantua Chamber Orchestra, and he is the first violinist of the Mantua Chamber Orchestra quartet with which he performs intense chamber music and regular concert activity in Italy and abroad. In 2002 he was invited by Enrico Dindo to be part of the Solisti di Pavia formation with which he still collaborates regularly. He is often invited to join the jury in National Competitions for musical performance for young musicians.

Course objectives: Students from the initial, middle and advanced level conservatories are invited, graduates who aim to deepen their knowledge. Students will be able to deepen the study of solo and chamber compositions, as well as work on the specific orchestral passages of their instrument. Analysis, study methods and learning of the violin repertoire will also be studied in depth.

Junior Master: It is an original recreational-educational initiative dedicated to children aged 6 and up or beginners. The Junior Masterclass was born with the aim of teaching young people the beauty of aggregation, sharing, working on the same goal, trusting one another, all in a fun and constructive way. Under the patient and expert guidance of the teacher, the children will experience the joy of deepening the study of their instrument with individual and group lessons and playing with others, coming closer to the experience of ensemble music in joy. Participants in the Junior Masterclasses will also be the protagonists of a matinee of the Meeting.

 

EMMANUELE BALDINI, (Violin) Born into a family of musicians, he attended the “Virtuositè” class in the Geneva Conservatoire with Corrado Romano. He also studied in Berlin and in Salzburg with Ruggiero Ricci and for chamber music with the “Trio di Trieste” and with Franco Rossi. Winner of several international competitions he was acclaimed as soloist winning the 1st “Virtuositè” prize with a special mention in Geneva, and the 3rd prize in the “R. Lipizer” Competition of Gorizia. He has played solo and violin and piano recitals throughout Italy and in the main European concert halls. He has also performed in the USA, Argentina, Brazil, Australia, Chile and in four long tours in Japan. He has interpreted the main concertos of the violin repertoire accompanied by orchestras.  Countless musicians sang praises about him: Claudio Abbado, Riccardo Muti, Daniele Gatti, Aldo Ciccolini, Franco Gulli, Ruggiero Ricci, Franco Rossi and the “Trio di Trieste”. He has performed as soloist or in chamber music recitals with Nicholas Angelich, Ricardo Castro, Silvia Chiesa, Arnaldo Cohen, Antonio Meneses, Caio Pagano, Maria-João Pires, Luca Ranieri, Ilan Rechtman, Maurizio Zanini, Lilya Zilberstein.  He has recorded compact discs for Agorà, Algol, Rivoalto and Phoenix. He was concertmaster of the Orchestra del Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Orchestra del Teatro “G. Verdi” di Trieste, Orquesta Sinfonica de Galicia, also collaborating with the Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala di Milano. Since 2005 he has been the concertmaster of the Orquestra Sinfonica do Estado de São Paulo (Brasil). He also is the founder and the first violin of the Quarteto Osesp. 

Course objectives: Students with intermediate and advanced level are invited. Students will be able to deepen the study of solo compositions, enrich their repertoire, confront themselves with problems of interpretation, relying on the search for the appropriate technical means to express themselves at best. The course also includes analysis, study methods and learning of the violin repertoire. 

 

DAVIDE ZALTRON, (Viola, Violin)  He is one of the most active professors of viola: his Conservatory class has been the most conspicuous in Italy for many years, with graduates who in the last twenty years have won most of the competitions and auditions at orchestras. He graduated in violin with Sonig Tchakerian and in viola with Bruno Giuranna (for many years at the Accademia Stauffer) and Armando Burattin. In addition to lessons with Accardo, Brunello, Carmignola, Filippini and Gulli, he attended chamber music courses with Asciolla, Borciani, F. Rossi and with the Trio di Trieste (three-year diploma). Soloist and above all chamber musician in 23 countries, he was first viola in more than 50 orchestras. He has played chamber music with Bacchetti, Brunello, Canino, Clevenger, Dindo, Kuijken, Nordio, Patyra, Piovano, Polverelli, Rabaglia, Redaelli, Rogliano, D. Rossi, Sollima, Trio Italiano, Vernikov ... In the context of philological execution he played as first viola with the Barocchisti of Lugano, the Academia Montis Regalis, the Baroque Complex, the Baroque Orchestra of Bologna, the Art of the Arc ... He recorded CDs and DVDs for Decca, Warner Classic, EMI, RCA Records, Fonit Cetra, Naxos, Brilliant, Amadeus, Bottega Discantica, Foné, Paragon, Velut Luna ... Among the most recent commitments: he has played (also in the first performance) the Concerto for viola and the Concertante for viola and cello (with Julius Berger) by Giovanni Bonato, recorded and participated as first viola in the European Tour of "Mission" with Cecilia Bartoli, has recorded numerous Quintets by Boccherini with Luigi Puxeddu (Boccherini Edition) and Vivaldi's Harmonic Estro with Federico Guglielmo's Art of the Arc (Vivaldi Edition); he played (first viola) the Third and the Sixth Brandenburgese with Sonig Tchakerian and Giovanni Sollima.

LUCA SIMONCINI, (Cello) He graduated with honors and special mention at the A.Boito Conservatory of Parma, under the guidance of Maestro F. Rossi, who also attended Chamber Music Courses at the Conservatory of Florence. He has been invited to participate in important events and has performed in various theaters, including La Scala in Milan. He has worked as a soloist, with I Solisti Veneti, the New Virtuosos of Rome and the Moscow Soloists on tournees that ranged from Europe to Japan. He has collaborated with numerous artists: PNMasi, B. Wolf, D. Nordio, M.Quarta, M.Rizzi, S.Pagliani, P. Vernikov, C.Giuffredi and A.Pay, D.Rossi, E.Dindo and M .Brunello as well as with the Borodin Quartet, with maestro G.Sinopoli, with the Mozart Orchestra conducted by Maestro C.Abbado and with actress L.Maglietta in a successful show dedicated to the composer R.Schumann. Since 1980 he is professor of cello at the F.Venezze di Rovigo Conservatory. He is invited as a member of the Judging Commissions of National and International Competitions of Chamber Music and Cello. He plays on an instrument of 1737 by Gregorio Antoniazzi that belonged to Gaspar Cassadò. From the foundation he is cellist of the New Italian Quartet, with whom he performed throughout Europe, Japan, the United States and the Soviet Union, deserving extensive recognition. For the recordings he received the highest awards from the specialized critics: Golden Star, Diapason d’or, Choc du Monde de la Musique, Prestige, Grand Prix du Disque with Claves, Emi, Adda, Nuova Era.

Students of middle and advanced level conservatories are invited, graduates or graduates who aim to deepen their knowledge and possibly prepare themselves to continue their post-diploma studies. Students can deepen the study of solo and chamber compositions, enrich their repertoire, confront themselves with problems of interpretation, deepening the technical and expressive knowledge of the instrument.

 

ULRIKE HOFMANN, (Cello) She completed his musical training at the Higher School of Music in Berlin with prof. Markus Nyikos, obtaining the Solistic diploma with merit mention. As a member of the Karajan Academy she began collaborating with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra Winner of the "Deutsche Musikwettbeverb" competition, she was selected to participate in the "Konzerte Junger Künstler" festival, thanks to which she began her solo career. Later she was awarded at the competitions Marktneukirchen International, "Domenico Gabrielli" in Berlin and "Domnick Violoncello Preis" in Stuttgart. She is currently part of the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra and regularly collaborates with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and the Oriol Ensemble of Berlin. Since 2000 she has been a member of the "Le Musiche" Quartet in Berlin with which she carries out intense concert activity, radio productions, record companies and Masterclasses. As a soloist and chamber musician she gives concerts in Europe, Japan, the United States, the Middle East and participates in important music festivals. As part of the courses of the Carl-Flesch-Akademie Academy in Baden-Baden, she was recognized as a Lions preis, thanks to which she recorded her first CD for Cello and Orchestra with music by Dvorak and M. Bruch.

Students from the initial, middle and advanced level conservatories are invited, graduates or graduates who aim to deepen their knowledge and possibly prepare themselves to continue their post-diploma studies. Students can deepen the study of solo and chamber compositions, deepening the technical-expressive knowledge of the instrument. Analysis, study methods and learning of the cello repertoire will also be studied in depth.

 

GERGELY JÁRDÁNYI, (Double Bass) He is one of the most popular double bass players in the world, born in Budapest in a family of musicians. After studying at the Ferenc Academy of Music Liszt in Budapest enrolled in the L.Streicher class at the Vienna Academy of Music where in 1987 he obtained his diploma with the highest marks and honors. Since then he began his international career as a soloist and collaborator in various chamber ensembles (Alpe Adria Ensemble, I Virtuosi Hungarians, UMZE, etc.) which took him to many centers in Europe, America and Asia. he is also part - as the first double bass - of several important symphony orchestras. He is a member of a jury in international competitions and holds master classes. For twenty years he is a tenured professor at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music, and currently teaches at the Vicenza Conservatory. His students are winners of several national and international competition awards and play in the best European orchestras. His commitment in favor of Bottesini finds the maximum evidence in the most recent projects: the recording of all the music of the nineteenth-century master in six CDs for the Hungaroton record company and the publication of all the basses for the Akkord publishing house. In 2003 he was awarded the Liszt Prize, one of the highest Hungarian state awards, reserved for artists.

Course objectives: The course aims to address the study of the instrument in the solo and chamber repertoire with attention to technique, sound, approaching. to a repertoire often little practiced. It is aimed at young musicians. Students of middle and advanced level conservatories are invited, graduates or graduates who aim to deepen their knowledge and possibly prepare themselves to continue their post-diploma studies. 

 

NICOLA GUIDETTI, (Flute) He studied at the Conservatory of Ferrara, graduating with the highest marks and distinction. Successively he has been awarded the "Honour diploma" at the Chigiana Music Academy and he has obtained the "Konzertdiplom" and the "Solistendiplom" at the Winterthur Conservatory (Switzerland) with the hightest marks and distinction too. He has received great appreciations for his style and his musicality from C. Klemm, S. Gazzelloni, A. Marion, J.P. Rampal with whom he has studied in Winterthur, Siena, Salzburg, Paris. He has performed in more than 20 countries throughout Europe, North Africa and South America, recording for many broadcasting stations and televisions and playing in prestigious concert-halls.  Principal flute of the “Città di Ferrara” Orchestra, he has collaborated with several orchestras: the "Chamber Orchestra of Europe" , "I Virtuosi Italiani", "I Filarmonici di Bologna", Orchestra Internazionale d’Italia, playing with C. Abbado, S. Accardo, D. Renzetti, E. Florio, Lü Jia, D. Boyd, Y. David, A. Vedernikov, J.B. Pommier. He has recorded for Ricordi, Dynamic, Tactus, Aura, Bottega Discantica, Bongiovanni, Fabula Classica, rediscovering and introducing works by G.B.Martini, L.Boccherini, G.M.Cambini, F.Carulli, A.Diabelli, B.Campagnoli, A.T.Berbiguier. Currently he teaches flute at the Conservatory of Adria (Rovigo-Italy) and at the Sacile Music Academy (Pordenone-Italy).

Course objectives: The course focuses on the study of the solo, chamber and orchestral repertoire. During the lessons, pieces will be dealt with both from the technical point of view, also with collective technique lessons, and from the expressive-stylistic point of view. It is aimed at young musicians. Students of middle and advanced level conservatories are invited, graduates or graduates who aim to deepen their knowledge and possibly prepare themselves to continue their post-diploma studies.

 

PIETRO MILELLA, (Oboe in chamber music) He was born in Bari, he studied oboe in Italy with Pietro Borgonovo at the music school of Fiesole and with C.H. Elhorst at the Musikschule Konservatorium of Berna. He has done professional activities for many Symphonic Orchestras, doing several tournèes in Europe, China and Australia performing also as soloist. The recording of many CD of original music for wind instruments and the interest of the music critic, let him take part at various festivals as: Festival Talos of Ruvo di Puglia (BA), Donaueschingen  Musiktage Munster, Gasteig of  Munich (Germany), Concert Music Hall of the Berlin Philharmonie (Germany), Saalfeden, Helmut List Halle of Graz (Austria), Paris Festival de La Villette, Festival Sant Denise, Sablè, Le Mans, Opera of Lille Theatre (France),  Camerata Musicale Barese (Bari).   His interpretations have been really appreciated for the originality and the instrumental virtuosity playing the modern oboe, the English horn and the hautbois d’amour, in duo with piano, wind trio, quinte, woodwind quintet, wind quintet with piano and chamber orchestra. He has recorded for the Sudwestfunk Germany, the ENJA, Bongiovanni and RAI and also specialized in the preparation (theoretical and practical) for wind ensemble and winds section of the orchestra, conducting numerous successful projects. He has been teaching the oboe at Italian State Conservatories since passing the competition  for state employment in 1990 and currently is professor at the Conservatory of Music "G. Tartini " in Trieste.

ANDREA LEASI, (Horn) He graduated in horn at the Conservatory of Music of Brescia in 1987. He perfected, later, with Guelfo Nalli and Ifor James. In 1987 he won the audition for the Italian Youth Orchestra and was part of it until 1989. In the same years he began working with the RAI Symphony Orchestra of Turin and the Mantua Chamber Orchestra, of which he is still a member as Primo Corno and with which he participates in prestigious concerts and tours in Italy and abroad (France, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Denmark, Austria, Slovenia, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, Venezuela). He works with important orchestra directors such as Zubin Mehta, Lorin Maazel, Georges Prêtre, Daniel Barenboim, Giuseppe Sinopoli, Antonio Pappano. In 1993 he won the competition for Primo Corno at the Orchestra of the Arena di Verona Foundation, a role he still holds today. As Primo Corno boasts collaborations with important orchestras and theaters: the Scala Philharmonic Orchestra of Milan, the Teatro Carlo Felice of Genoa, the Teatro Comunale of Bologna, the Toscanini Philharmonic Orchestra of Parma, the Solisti Veneti, the Chamber Orchestra of Padua, I Virtuosi Italiani, the Bergamo Orchestra Stabile, the Brescia and Bergamo Festival Orchestra, The Pomeriggi Musicali of Milan, the Teatro Regio di Parma, the Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano and Trento, the Orchestra of the National Academy of Santa Cecilia.

Students will be able to deepen the study of solo and chamber compositions, as well as work on the specific orchestral passages of their instrument, enrich their repertoire, confront themselves with the problems of interpretation and safeguarding the style of musical epochs, relying on the search for appropriate technical means to express oneself at best.

 

DOMENICO SOSSAI, (Clarinet) He began his musical studies at the age of six, graduating at sixteen in Clarinet at the Conservatory of Bologna, then in Saxophone at the Milan Conservatory. He studied Piano and Composition with Maestro Daniele Zanettovich. He specialized with internationally renowned musicians such as V. Mariozzi, A. Pay, G. Garbarino, K. Leister, Romeo Tudorache, JYFourmeau and Jazz, David Boato, Robert Bonisolo, Dan Kinzelman, Jim Odgren at the Umbria courses Jazz, 2010 edition. He has been awarded in important international competitions. He has taught at the "Fausto Torrefranca" Conservatory of Vibo Valentia and now holds the chair of Clarinet at the "Fausto Torrefranca" Conservatory of Vibo Valentia. He received the 2006 CIVILITAS Prize from Conegliano, the emerging young section. He has recorded for RAI and for the record companies RIVO ALTO, FONIT CETRA, NB BENE. He has published his compositions for the PIZZICATO publishing house. He designed, built and patented the brand new Clarinet “SISTEMA SOSSAI”, a completely innovative instrument from the true avant-garde which, still immersed in the tests, has already received important consents (PIAVE G20 / G21 models).

Course objectives: The masterclass is aimed at young musicians. Students from the initial, middle and advanced level are invited, graduates who aim to deepen their knowledge. The students will be able to face the study of solo and chamber compositions, as well as work the specific orchestral passages of their instrument, enrich their repertoire, confront themselves with the problems of interpretation and safeguarding the style of musical epochs.

 

SERGIO LAZZERI, (Contrabassoon and Bassoon) Bassoonist and contra-bassoonist was born in Genoa in 1962. Graduated in bassoon with the highest marks in 1982 at the Conservatory "Niccolò Paganini" in Genoa, he began a multi-year collaboration with various chamber groups and symphony orchestras. He has been awarded in numerous major international competitions. In 1984 he won the competition for the position of co-soloist bassoon at the Teatro del Giglio in Lucca in whose orchestra he worked until 1987. In 1987 he collaborated with the Teatro La Fenice in Venice as a contra-bassoonist and in the same year he participated in the Schleswig Holstein Festival under the direction of Sergiu Celibidache (concerts in Paris, Milan, Hamburg, Berlin, Basel). In 1988 he was the winner in France of competitions at the orchestras Orchestra Symphonique d'Europe and Orchester de l'Offrande Musicale. In 1989 he won in Spain the first bassoon and contra-bassoon at the Orquesta Filarmonica de Gran Canaria where he worked until 1992. In 1992 he won the first bassoon competition at the Orchester National de Lyon (France) and in 1993 won the first bassoon competition at the Israel Chamber Orchestra (Israel). From 1994 to 2000 he was the first bassoon of the Cyprus State Orchestra (Cyprus). He has worked as a soloist and as a contra-bassoon with the most important orchestras. Already professor of bassoon at the Conservatory "Licinio Refice" of Frosinone and the Conservatory "Luigi Cherubini" of Florence he currently teaches at the Conservatory "Giuseppe Tartini" of Trieste.

GIANNINO FASSETTA, (Accordion) He begins the study of the accordion at the age of six. He follows the specialization courses with the Masters F. Lips and W. Zubintskj. Ranked in fifteen national and international competitions, he participates in recordings for Rai TV, regional and foreign networks. He carries out intense concert activity in Italy and abroad (Argentina, Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Pakistan, Portugal, Czech Republic, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Hungary). Thanks to a recognized interpretative versatility, he collaborates steadily with internationally renowned artists in various formations: from Kaleiduo to Remo Anzovino Trio. In 2009 he participated in the musical projects of Maestro Nicola Piovani. He records the CD "Evocations" with his own music on texts by the poet Giuseppe Malattia della Vallata and the CD "Reflejo" on the production of Astor Piazzolla. In 2000 for the soundtrack of the film "Vajont" by Renzo Martinelli he composed two tracks for accordion and string quartet, now published by the record company Sugar Music of Milan. His sensitivity and style are appreciated by contemporary composers, such as the Trieste-born Daniele Zanettovich, who dedicated ad hoc accordion writing to him. Since 2011 he has also been engaged as artistic director of the Fadiesis Accordion Festival, organized by the Musical Association "Fadiesis" between Pordenone and Matera.

Course objectives: Students of initial, middle and advanced level are invited, who aim to deepen their knowledge by deepening the study of solo and chamber compositions, but also to amateurs with no scholastic purposes in the immediate future or to graduates with further education. Analysis, study methods and learning of the accordion repertoire will also be studied in depth.

 

STEFANO VIOLA, (Guitar) He was born in 1960. His parents were both musicians and at only eighteen he graduated at the Conservatoire with full marks and honours. After that, he spent four years in Milan, studying under Maestro Ruggero Chiesa and attending high specialization courses held by Oscar Ghiglia in Gargnano (Lombardy, Italy) and the Musical Academy Chigiana in Siena. He held solo and orchestra concerts in and outside Italy, winning prestigious national and international competitions. He was founder and teacher at the Guitar Academy “Francisco Tárrega” in Pordenone. His students have won more than one hundred awards in the most important national and international competitions. These achievements make Maestro Viola one of the most important Conservatoire teachers of his generation. For many years he has been committing himself to studying all technical and mechanical aspects of guitar playing. He has also been invited to hold conferences and Master-class courses in several guitar festivals across Italy, as well as in Slovenia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Mexico, Austria and Spain. Some of his contributions have been published in the journal Il Fronimo (Milan). He developed and coordinated an important research project called “Postural and functional biomechanical analysis of a guitarist’s body”. He wrote two volumes on guitar playing techniques published by the publishing house Edizioni Musicali Sinfonica.

Students can deepen the study of solo and chamber compositions, enrich their repertoire. Elements of mechanical technique, performance practices and the history of the instrument will also be addressed.

 

PAOLO BIRRO, (Introduction to jazz) Born in Noventa Vicentina in 1962, in 1987 he graduated in piano at the Conservatory of Vicenza under the guidance of maestro Carlo Mazzoli. In 2007 he obtained the II Level Diploma in Jazz at the Adria Conservatory with full marks and honors. In 1992 in trio with Sandro Gibellini and Mauro Negri, he ranks first in the International Barga Jazz Competition. In 1996 he was named "Best New Talent" in the referendum of the specialized critic called by the magazine Musica Jazz. He has collaborated in concerts and recordings with internationally renowned artists: Lee Konitz, Ruud Brink, Scott Hamilton, Buddy De Franco ... He has performed in the most important festivals and exhibitions. He has given concerts in Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Israel, France, Spain, Ethiopia, Greece, Canada and participated in various radio broadcasts for RAI Radio3. He has made several solo, duet and trio records in his own name. He has written articles published in the magazine Musica Oggi. He is author together with R. Sportiello of the method published in 2005 by the Ricordi editions "Master in Piano Jazz". He taught jazz, improvisation and ensemble music, the Civic Jazz Courses in Milan, the Sienese Jazz Music Seminars, the Experimental Jazz Course of the Bologna Conservatory, the Siena Jazz University and the Mantua Conservatory; since 2003 he is a professor at the Conservatory of Vicenza. 

Course objectives: The contemporary musical reality is less and less crossed by those fences that kept the genres, styles, schools and communities of musicians that refer to them separate. It may therefore happen more and more frequently that classical musicians also feel the need, both to enrich their own knowledge and to tackle their profession with additional skills, to try to practice different languages ​​than usual. Jazz has some peculiarities (such as a certain conception of rhythm, the approach to sources and notation, constant practice and on various levels of improvisation) that can usefully complement the wealth of skills for any type of musician who is intrigued by it. This course therefore aims to offer, in the very synthetic form of a first contact, basic tools that lead to the understanding and practice of jazz language through guided listening, analysis of scores but also in the form of ensemble exercises performed with accompaniment of the teacher.

 

MARIO ZANETTE, (Orchestra) He started his clarinet study at a very young age, graduating brilliantly at the F.E.Dall'Abaco University of Verona. From a very young age he devoted himself to the chamber and solo repertoire, giving recitals for numerous Concert Societies in Italy and abroad performing in the most renowned theaters and concert halls in numerous Italian and foreign countries such as the United States (Metropolitan), Canada (Canadian Opera Company), France, Switzerland, Austria, Egypt, Sweden and Pakistan. He has played the role of first clarinet in numerous and important orchestras and in various chamber ensembles. He is the founder and member since 1983 of the Clarinet Quartet "Ensemble Serenissima", with which he has won numerous first prizes in prestigious international competitions. At the same time he dedicated himself to teaching clarinet and conducting. He was the permanent director of orchestral formations in Italy and abroad (Slovenia). Always attentive to the education of young people, he was the creator, promoter and artistic director of numerous initiatives dedicated to them. Thanks to his professional preparation, passion and constant commitment, he has been able to bring the La Serenissima Orchestra, which he founded, to win numerous prestigious prizes in national and international competitions and to acquire an international reputation with tours in various countries, from Europe, to the United States, from South America to Asia. He was invited by various Institutes and Association to give lectures on didactics and musical aesthetics and took part, as a juror, in numerous national competitions. He has collaborated and collaborates with internationally renowned soloists. He also took care of the history of music in Friuli Venezia Giulia in the series of volumes dedicated to the arts in the region published by the publishing house Agenzia Libraria of Monfalcone. For over thirty years he has been president of the Cultural Association of the Serenissima Ensemble of Sacile, active in the promotion, dissemination and musical education.

Course objectives: The orchestral music workshop will focus on the analysis and study of original pieces for string orchestra and symphonic orchestra from the Baroque to the twentieth century. It will also be an opportunity to tackle contemporary music with the study of the winner of the IV International Composition Prize SEM 2019 and its premiere performance during the symphonic concert of the Meeting. The laboratory is purely practical.
